Franz Remy Camacho

A lawyer by profession and a distinguished law professor, Franz Remy Camacho graduated with a degree in Legal and Political Sciences from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in 1957, where he earned his bar membership.
He subsequently specialized in Civil and Criminal Law at the University of Salamanca. He followed this with two further specializations in Civil and Family Law in 2001, and Procedural and Criminal Law in 2004, both of which were postgraduate degrees obtained in Spain. In 2004, he completed a Master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Law, graduating in 2005.
Regarding his extensive work experience, he began working as a civil court clerk at the Superior Court of Justice of the La Paz District. He continued providing legal advice and defense in judicial, civil, criminal, mining, administrative, and social proceedings to various companies. He also served as external counsel for the Credit Card Administrator S.A., and as an associate attorney at the C.R. & F. Rojas Law Firm from 1983 to 1999. He was a member of the Society of Multidisciplinary Consulting Attorneys in 2001.
He currently provides external counsel in corporate law, litigation in various areas, conciliation and arbitration, civil and criminal procedural law, constitutional appeals, and administrative law to public and private sector institutions.
Regarding his teaching career at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA), Remy Camacho was a full professor of Legal History and Roman Law since 1998 and of Civil Obligations Law II since 2008, both at the Law School. He subsequently served as a member of the Faculty Council of the Legal Technical Committee and as Director of the Research and Seminar Institute at the same school. In 2005, he served as Vice Dean and Director of Graduate Studies at the Law School. He served as director of the forensic practical research unit and legal clinic from 2007 to 2009. He is currently dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at UMSA.
